Unsung is a non-profit whose goal is to end hunger in America by
leveraging the ‘sharing economy’.
Food isn't something most Americans think about because for most,
food is over abundant.
It's surprising to hear that over 49 million Americans live with
food insecurity (meaning these people don't know where their next
meal is coming from). Meanwhile, Americans throw 500 billion
dollars of food each year!
UNSUNG is leveraging the sharing economy to solve this hunger
problem. With the unsung app, if you're a restaurant or a catering
service or you just have extra food, log on to their app, describe
the food you have available, and it will be picked up and delivered
to the needy (you'll get a tax deduction, and save money on your
garbage bill, too.
Every meal donated can be seen on their Live Feed. People can view
the good deeds being done in their community in real time
transparently. Leaderboards and badges show you the most active
unsung heroes in your community.
UNSUNG is growing rapidly and has been growing 10% WEEKLY in
2016.
In 2016, Unsung has delivered over 12,000 meals to people in
need.
